Alistair and Jonny Brownlee to ride Boardman Elite SLR 9.8 with Sram WiFli this weekend in Kitzbühel
The Brownlees are trading in their usual Boardman Elite AiR 9.8 aero road bikes for the lighter Boardman Elite SLR 9.8 with Sram WiFli gearing to take on the 867m ascent and severe gradients of the Kitzbühler Horn mountain at ITU Kitzbühel this weekend.
Here’s a look at the Brownlee’s rides and what kit will see them to the top.

The Brownlees have chosen to ride the Boardman SLR 9.8, which we know to be an light, exceptionally stiff and efficient climbing machine. The bike is specced with Sram Red, with WifFli transmission and Zipp wheels

The Sram Red WiFli mid-cage rear derailleur will give Alistair and Jonny crisp shifting as well as the ability to choose up to 32-teeth cassettes to spin up the toughest gradients. The WiFli derailleur works with 11-25, 11-26, 11-28 or 11-32 cassettes

The Brownlees will be set up with this 11-32 SRAM XG-1099 cassette, that should let them keep something in their legs for the run despite the tough climbing

To complement the 32-teeth rear cassette, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee will have the Sram Red Exogram Compact crankset with 50/34 chainrings

Light and stiff with excellent power transfer, the Zipp 202 Tubular will keep the Brownlees speeding upwards

The Sram Red Yaw front derailleur won’t constrain the Brownlees’ shifting under heavy climbing loads

The Sram Red ErgoDynamics Shifter features Reach Adjust to keep the gear and brake levers in the perfect position
